Sleek modern establishment with excellent coffee, super friendly baristas and highly engaged owner. We felt welcome the moment we walked in. Baristas are experts at their craft, carefully measuring and preparing each puck until just right while collaborating and sharing beat practices. I witnessed what looked like a nice puck being discarded because a senior employee wasn’t satisfied with its preparation. Sam the owner oversees the operation and loves talking about coffee and the source of his beans. Pride of ownership exhibited across the entire team. Cappuccino and cortado exuded strong arabica notes and crema was excellent. Americano also prepared expertly. Steam pressure is delivered via a modern under counter system which likely contributes to the high quality. There is no seating as small establishment is located in the opera building. Do yourself a favor and enjoy their excellent espresso and milk.
I've been wanting to go to espresso and milk for quite some time now but they're only open during working days and close around 3:00 so it's not possible for me to go unless I'm off of work. So when I had the opportunity to pop in on a random day off I didn't pass up the opportunity and was not disappointed. The location is on the ground floor of the Opera House off the river which is an amazing space to be and not a part of the city that you usually go to unless you work in that area. As for the coffee, I tried one of the seasonal lattes and it was absolutely delicious. It wasn't too sweet but still had the notes of the cookie. It was trying to represent. A good latte in my opinion always lets the coffee shine through and that's what this one did. The space, while small is inviting and very clean, with minimalistic vibes. The staff were friendly and seemed like they would be more than willing to help with an order or any questions even though I didn't have any personally. While there's nowhere to sit, there are some little standing counters that you can enjoy your coffee while catching up with a friend or typing away on your phone doing miscellaneous activities. Considering the location in the city, this isn't a surprise because this is likely a place for folks that live in the area, which would explain the hours as well. If you happen to be visiting or can make it while they're open during the week, I highly recommend going and it's somewhere. I will try to go again sooner rather than later to try out some of their other drinks and maybe they're non-latte offerings getting something a little more bean focused.
My favorite coffee shop in Chicago! I’ve been coming here since I arrived in town, and the drinks are always delicious. The baristas are skilled and super friendly, making it a warm and welcoming spot. Highly recommend!
I come here everyday when I'm town for work, so I'm not s regular and they don't know me. But they're always clean, always friendly, always quick/efficient and always delicious. Its always busy but whoever at the register still remembers me after one day, and sometimes remembers my usual order.
Pretty chill spot to grab your morning fuel. Got my drink within 5-8 minutes after ordering and they were decently busy with online and in person orders. Tasted pretty good as well
probably the best coffee I've ever had. I had their honey lavender and it was immaculate. I will be back again.
Great little coffee shop where coffee tastes like coffee. Sure they have some flavored stuff but just a clean coffee recipes.
Every Monday like clockwork I get a coffee from espresso and milk and it makes my Monday feel like a bright and sunny Saturday The employees are so nice and you call tell they have a love for what they do. This city has a lot of coffee shops, but it’s hard to beat the quality of espresso and milk.
